Japanese American Baseball History at JCI
On March 20, 2010, the Japanese Cultural Institute Community partners with the Bridge: JCI Heritage Center and will be presenting “A Brief History of the Japanese American Baseball Experience” from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute Hall, 1964 West 162nd St. in Gardena.
Kerry Yo Nakagawa, of the Nisei Baseball Research Project, will discuss the history of Japanese American baseball from the immigration period, the camp and resettlement period, and the period from the 1960’s up to the present, with particular emphasis on baseball in Los Angeles and in the South Bay.
